I am really worried about car finance rip off

i paid a deposit towards a car finance. the finance fell through, car finance company will not refund deposit.

I applied for car finance through Koncept car credit. Told them that I was a full time agency worker. they told me to call into their office as the credit had been approved. They asked for a deposit towards the finance which I paid. The car that i wanted was not at the garage so all the paperwork was done for the car to be delivered the following week. A few days later Koncept advised me that the finance had fallen through. I asked for my deposit back and they told me that I had to send a letter to ask for my money, which I did ( got no reply), and a few weeks later when I called them to ask for my refund I was told that I would not be getting it back as I had told them that I was in permanent and that is not true as they had guranteed that they could get finance for me even though I was an agency worker.

I phoned the ombudsman who told me that my bank could get the money back for me. The bank has just told me that they have no right to claim the refund on my behalf. Bottom line is that I paid for a deposit towards a product, I did not recieve the product but Koncept have decided that they are not going to give me my refund. When I phone I am passed from pillar to post and noone will speak to me. everyone is busy with a client or the phone just goes dead after being placed on hold.

What can I do to get my money back as clearly Koncept car credit are bogus and under handed thieves.

did you pay your deposit in cash or via your bank card\cheque?
(if it is via a card, the bank has a lot of power, it can and has to use for you)

what does the small print in the contract say about refunds and refusals?
(there might be an 'application fee' or some such thing, which is non refundable or hidden in legal bullsh*t)

have you spoken to your local Citizens Advice Burea or Citizens Rights Office?
(they are knowledgable and neutral, so are a good place to ask)
